Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment is an economic empowerment piece of legislation enacted to address the economic imbalances created by the past laws. The BBBEE Act aims to empower previously disadvantaged groups such as Africans, Coloureds, Indians and the Chinese who arrived in the Country before 1994.

The achievement of this empowerment will be realized through elements of the BBBEE Act being:

  • Ownership
  • Management Control
  • Skills Development
  • Enterprise and Supplier Development
  • Socio-economic Development
It is in this context that Murray & Roberts Cementation (Pty) Ltd, as a Contract Mining Company that largely operates in the South African economic climate, is mindful of its obligations with regards BBBEE and will endeavor at all times to economically empower previously disadvantaged communities.

A flow-through from the Murray & Roberts Holdings BEE beneficiation adds a further 50.97 Black Ownership and 15.41 Black Women Ownership based on the Construction Charter Scorecard.

Based on the Construction Charter Scorecard Verification Audit, Murray & Roberts Cementation has a BEE Status of Level 4
